It’s week 7 of the Kitchen Organization Challenge which means we’ll be organizing the pantry. It doesn’t matter what the size of the pantry you have when it’s organized it makes life much better. Don’t you agree? In this post, I will show you how I organize our small pantry.
Back in 2017 when my husband and I were still house hunting, like many of you, I had my whole list of must-haves. But I slowly became flexible when I was constantly reminded of our budget. We choose to stick to our budget so that we can live a mortgage-free life. Fast forward to today I won’t change our decision for anything. Sure there are a few features that I don’t like in our house, but most of them are aesthetic and can be easily fixed.
The one thing that I don’t like the most are the wire shelves in every closet including the one in the pantry. It drives me crazy. In an attempt to fix it the most inexpensive way I did a mini makeover to our pantry last year. Read the post here. Although it enhanced the look of the space, it sure not how I wanted it. As we speak, I’m still searching for a budget-friendly DIY project which will allow me to remove the shelves and replaced it with white painted wood shelves. I’ll keep you posted for sure!
HOW TO ORGANIZE A SMALL PANTRY
So, let me take you to a tour of our small panty. On the top shelves, I placed the large wire baskets to hold lightweight miscellaneous items.
As you can see the organizers that I used to store canned goods, I placed them on the third and fourth shelves for easy access and safety reasons.
I’ve mentioned a few times that acrylic organizers are my go-to when organizing small spaces. It perfectly works for us! Last month, I purged for a couple of different organizers: pantry can organizers and storage baskets. To date, these two are my new favorites.
Then, I have a dedicated space for Chase, our little Shih Tzu foods and treats for easy access.

You’ll notice that I didn’t label each organizer. It’s because I want to have the flexibility of using it for other items that we’ll pick up on our next grocery shopping. We like trying new products. We also like to stock canned goods in case of an emergency. So, the contents in our pantry are well-balanced.
