I have to admit that when I signed up for one room challenge all that I planned would be it completely. But last week has brought me surprises when I changed my plans for our dining chairs. You see, the initial plan was to only have the seats upholstered. That changed because now I want to include the back. So, yeah! It’s double the job.
Then, this week another change has occurred. Instead of using a neutral color fabric, I am using this bright floral fabric. If you have been following along, you should have known by now that I am big on the neutral colors. The best way to describe our home is with gray walls and white furniture pieces. This is me taking the chances to welcome the bright floral fabric in our dining room. I am excited to see how this is going to turn out though.
Let’s talk about the dining chairs makeover first. Because of both seat and back of each chair are getting upholstered I only removed the dark stain on front and rear legs. It saves time and stain materials for sure. In case you are wondering how I removed the stain, this time I used my Ryobi corner sander instead of stain remover. I would say it is easier that way. Then, I applied Minwax Pre-Stain wood conditioner and let it dry. Next, I applied Minwax Golden Pecan stain. As I finish this project, I will also apply Minwax Polyurethane and Minwax Finishing Wax respectively.
Moving on. .. The console table was dark finish and it has doors which unquestionably was my style then. As you can see now, I removed the doors to create open shelves where I can display a few dining room essentials. Its current state is after the primer application. I decided to paint it white.
To sum it up the week 4 update is promising. Two more weeks and it is going to be the Reveal Day. Are you as excited as I am?
This week as I finish the remaining tasks, I will also be working on the wallpaper installation and the chandelier update. Check out updates throughout the week on my stories. Follow me on Instagram!
