Simplicity is the theme I was and still aim for when I started filling in items in this house. You see, not having the same look with the masses doesn’t bother me. I’m here to say that for as long as you’re happy with your home that’s perfectly fine. It’s your home. It’s your style. Embrace it.
The past couple of years, I blog about the progress of our home from organizing to decorating to DIY projects. But I wanted to share Our Home Tour: Two Years Update today so that you can perhaps relate and understand the amount of work I put into this house from blank slate to how every room looks now and hopefully, get a glimpse of my style.
Welcome to Our Home Tour: Two Years Update!
Our entryway starts with simple decors with a touch of minimalist style. The items that I use here are from previous months and even from last year. Don’t get me wrong. I love shopping, but I have more love for saving money. I also love the idea of not having the requirement for ample storage to store seasonal decors and a lot of extra items. It sure is the minimalist way, which is finding a balance between less and more.
Most likely, you’ve noticed that I’m in love with shades of blue, white, and gray as well as gold for accents. In a few minutes, it will become more evident as we continue the home tour.
The front room is my next favorite space in the house. You’ll see the first Ikea hack I’ve completed. The ability to change up decors with the bookcase is priceless, plus having a reading nook here makes it perfect for me.
Let’s switch to the dining area. The Ikea storage you see is the second hack I’ve completed. Admittedly, this is the only space that we rarely use despite its temptation. Over this time, we’ve been using our breakfast nook. Talk about convenience having it practically in the kitchen.
Our family room has been about 75% done for a few months now. But something was missing, and I finally figured it’s the bookcase for additional storage. That’s how our third Ikea hack was born. For now, I’m enjoying the scene of room for growth in this space.
Shall we talk about the kitchen? Perhaps this is the most challenging DIY project I’ve completed. Although it’s in good condition, I gave it a makeover it deserved to keep my minimalist style and make space look brighter.
The home office is my personal space. It’s tiny, but it works for me; another area that’s neutral color based.
Okay, let’s take a peek at the guest bedroom. Cozy and warm for our guests. Thoughts about my unconventional way of hanging the wall arts?
Then, the guest bathroom; another blue themed space.
Lastly, let me take you to our back porch. Unfortunately, the heat of the Florida summer had prevented me from enjoying the outside. It won’t be for long though. I’m planning to spend most of my time here comes the colder seasons.
Our Home Tour: Two Years Update (Before Photos)
Who doesn’t like before and after photos? So, here it is. I’m sharing how we started in our first house from carpet to hardwood floor to now. It sure takes hard work, time, and patience along the way. There are more rooms to tackle in the next few months. Stay tuned!
That’s it! Our Home Tour: Two Years Update.
It’s our home.
